Include your Confluence site URL and, if it’s about a specific finding, the page it appeared on. Don’t paste page content.

Getting started

  • One page: open a page and use the links item under the page title. It says Check links until the first check, then shows the result.
  • One link: select the text, open ••• in the toolbar that appears, and choose Check links.
  • A whole space: open Broken Link Checker from the space sidebar and press the scan button.

Known limits

External URLs are not checked

Checking them would mean sending your links to an outside service. The app makes no outbound requests at all, which is a deliberate trade and the reason it runs entirely on Atlassian.

Scans run with your permissions

A page you can’t read is reported as unchecked, never as broken. Coverage across a space therefore depends on who ran the scan — it isn’t a completeness claim.

No trash deep link

Confluence Cloud exposes no reachable URL for a space’s trash, so the report tells you a page is restorable but can’t take you straight there.

Frequently asked

Why does it ask for “Create and update pages”?

To store a small scan summary as a page property: a few counts, the page version, the date, and the label shown under the title. Confluence has no narrower permission that works. The app never edits page content, and you can verify that from any page’s version history: running a check leaves no entry. Full detail on the app page.

Does scanning change my pages?

No. No version is created, nothing appears in version history, and the “Updated” date does not move.

The byline label is out of date

Confluence reads the label once when the page renders. After a scan changes the verdict, the label catches up when you reload the page. Moving to another page and back doesn’t update it. The popup is always current.

Reporting a bug

The most useful report: what you expected, what you saw, and the kind of link involved (page, attachment, or section). If the app showed a technical detail panel, include that text.
